FINANCIAL SERVICES/RISK
MANAGEMENT (Accounting)
– Louisville High School
• Grade 11
• Grade 12
This course offers students the
opportunity to learn skills that are needed toward these
certifications: accountant, loan counselor, teller, credit
analyst, management analyst, budget analyst, financial manager,
comptroller, and auditor. Students will have opportunities to
gain these certifications in the context of an accounting
program that focuses on learning and using marketing skills, and
learning about and applying these all-critical accounting skills
in the context of the stock market. A solid understanding of
Mathematics and the Language Arts skills, particularly speaking
and writing, will be critical to the students' success in this
program. Due to concerns regarding staffing and classroom space,
students may be asked to complete their math, science, and
language arts requirements in their home district. The FS/RM
program will be taught in half of the school day – either
morning or afternoon.
According to the National
Association of Colleges and Employers in their Job Outlook
Survey administered in October, 2005, accounting is at the top
of the list of majors they plan to hire at the bachelor's level.
