E-COMMERCE/MARKETING TECHNOLOGIES I – GlenOak High School

The E-Commerce/Marketing program will prepare students to implement
E-Commerce marketing skills for businesses involved in an on-line environment. Technical skills and knowledge include, but are not limited to: digital graphic design; site design and strategy; market research; promotion; financial management; global commerce/international E-Commerce. The integrated E-Commerce block will include the technical component, problem solving activities and group communication skills will be emphasized. Out-of-district students are accommodated on an individual basis to insure full scheduling opportunities. All students will be members of DECA, an association of marketing students.

The E-Commerce/Marketing II includes a work-based learning component of co-op, internship, mentorship or job shadowing at an E-Commerce/technology related business. Senior year is project based with student involvement in web site development, desktop publishing, and research-based projects. All students will be members of DECA, an association of marketing students.

BUSINESS ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES – Hoover High School

Business Management (Juniors)
Web Tools for Business 1 credit

This course will allow students to use cutting-edge, industry standard software to design and develop web pages. Concepts covered will include file management, site design and strategy, creating and working with graphics, buttons, rollovers, animation, links, tables, style sheets, objects and layers, and managing a web server and files. Students will work with and integrate Adobe CS3 Fireworks, Flash, and Dreamweaver software.

Intro to Business / Marketing 1 credit
Students will learn basic business and marketing concepts, terminology, and applications. Business topics covered will include financial management, consumer issues and purchasing strategies, ethics, management skills, business structure, investment options, and current events. The marketing portion of the course will cover the concepts of sales, promotion, purchasing, pricing, and distribution. Students will work with a local business and create a marketing plan to address that business’s current needs, perform market research, and conduct a product analysis.

Business Management (Seniors) 2 Credits
Grade-12

This course will encourage students to participate in learning how businesses functions in a global environment and train students to meet the expectations of our fast-changing economy by providing them an opportunity to operate their own Junior Achievement-sponsored business. Through this hands-on experience, students will develop a business, elect officers, and fill positions in Human Resources, Finance, Production, Marketing, and Sales departments. Students will write a business plan, study consumer behavior, perform market research, research and order products, create and maintain a website, develop marketing and sales strategies, and package and distribute products. Software used will include the Adobe CS3 Suite and the Microsoft Office 2007 Suite. For the 2008-09 school year, the course will only be open to seniors who have taken Web Tools for Business Management and Intro to Business/Marketing.

This course will enable students to learn about the many career opportunities emerging as technology changes the way we do business today. The various occupations involve creating, designing and managing business in an on-line environment.. Examples of postsecondary exit occupations are internet/intranet technology manager, web advertising specialist, on-line sales manager, advertising/designing specialist and many others. The program will be an interdisciplinary approach with emphasis on technology and communications

MARKETING MANAGEMENT I
– Jackson High School - Junior Year

Prerequisite: Business and Technology Foundations
Length: Full year course
Grade Level: 11
Credit: 1 credit

This course will enable students to discover their marketing and management skills. They will learn about marketing information, pricing, and product/service management, as well as the supply-chain and marketing communications. Students will develop a working knowledge of basic business and marketing concepts, terminology and application skills. Marketing concepts will include sales, promotions, purchasing, pricing, and distribution. This course will prepare students for post-secondary education in the marketing field. Marketing Management I may be taken alone, or along with Business Management II (2 periods – senior year), Computer Office Applications (semester course), and Entrepreneurship (semester course) for a more in-depth study of marketing concepts and procedures. Students choosing to complete all of these courses have the opportunity to receive college credit through Stark State College upon successful completion of all College Tech Prep program requirements.

Participation in DECA, an international association of high school and college students studying marketing, management and entrepreneurship in business, finance, hospitality and marketing sales and service, is mandatory. Members develop leadership, citizenship, and scholastic skills through local, state, and national events and activities. Students are responsible for the $25.00 membership dues.

Introduction to Marketing

Description: This is an elective class for juniors who are interested in a career in marketing or are planning to be entrepreneurs and own a business. Students may also be anticipating enrollment in the senior Marketing Education Cooperative Program. The topics covered include marketing/business fundamentals, survey of business careers, employability skills, basic sales techniques, customer relations, business operations and entrepreneurship. Students will also be a part of the youth organization DECA which gives students the opportunity to develop leadership skills and enter competitive events against other schools.

Marketing Tech Prep

Description: Marketing Education is a cooperative work experience program designed to prepare students for a career in marketing, business, management, or entrepreneurship. Topics covered include advanced sales techniques, economics, advertising and promotion, finance, store control, risk management, advanced marketing principles, buying, entrepreneurship, business plans, and work ethic. Students are employed in occupations related to their business interest and are under the supervision of a teacher/coordinator. The student is required to work and receive ay for a minimum of twelve hours per week. Senior students are part of the DECA youth organization. Transportation is required.

MARKETING TECHNOLOGIES
– R.G. Drage Career Center (House at Louisville High School)

This program is designed to introduce students to the world of marketing. Students will have the opportunity to explore, discover and investigate topics and career choices related to the marketing field. Examples of content include product development and distribution, promotion/advertising, selling, entrepreneurship, career exploration, employability, global marketing and many more. Class activities will be project-based and will include marketing research, social and ethical responsibility and E-commerce marketing. The senior year may also require a work experience.
