Canton South Senior interns at the Timken Company
Canton South Project Lead the Way Engineering senior, Micah Thorn, is the first high school engineering student to intern with the Timken Company. Micah began his internship with the Timken Company in early February and has made quite an impression on the engineering staff at the Faircrest Steel facility.

Ron Balyint, metallurgy engineer and plant manager at the Timken Company says,

"He is impressed with Micah’s work ethic and ability to adapt to any situation they present him with."

Micah is currently working on an area and plant modeling design which will represent a new conveyer section for finished steel bars. Micah will be attending The Ohio State University in the fall majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

HOSA Students Advance to National Competition
Dental Assistant/Hygienist Technology and Heath Technology students from R. G. Drage Career Technical Center recently competed in the HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) State Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California June 22-25.

For Dental Assistant/Hygienist Technology:

HOSA is a national, career-technical student organization composed of state associations and local chapters. This organization provides the opportunity for the development of leadership skills, personal and professional growth, and career-related competencies to students enrolled in health care programs. Involvement promotes social awareness, civic responsibility, and understanding of the business community.

Students Advance to International Competition
The Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) students of the R. G. Drage Career Technical Center Marketing program, which is housed at Louisville High School, recently competed in the DECA State Competition at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Oh.

The top five in each series event and the top three in the written events will have the opportunity to compete at the DECA international Career Development Conference which will be held in Orlando, FL on April 30th - May 3rd.
The following students qualified for the international competition:
Alex Skolosh of Louisville (first place in Principles of Hospitality and Tourism)
Cory Ross of Louisville (second place in Accounting Applications)
Cody McElroy of Louisville (attending as voting delegate for the National DECA Officer Team)
Jon Westlake of Louisville (part of the Senior Management Institute)

The following students also placed at the state competition:
Travis Heren, Garrett Marino, and Nick Zimmerman were in the Top 10 in Buying and Merchandising, a written event.
Rachel Christy, Angel Kemp, and Amanda Sims were in the Top 10 in Sports and Entertainment, a written event.
